ABSTRACT
Abstract As part of a broad One Health surveillance effort to detect novel viruses in wildlife and people, we report several paramyxovirus sequences sampled primarily from bats during 2013 2014 Brazil Malaysia, including seven which recovered full-length genomes. Of these, six represent the first paramyxovirid genomes sequenced Americas, two that are bat morbillivirus genome published date. Our findings add vast number viral public repositories, have been increasing considerably recent years due rising accessibility metagenomics. Taxonomic classification these absence phenotypic data has significant challenge, particularly subfamily Orthoparamyxovirinae , where rate discovery substantial. Using pairwise amino acid sequence (PAASC), propose five belong members genus Jeilongvirus Morbillivirus . We also highlight inconsistencies Tupaia virus Mòjiāng using same demarcation criteria suggest reclassification into new genera. Importantly, this study underscores critical importance length PAASC analysis as well biological characteristics such organization taxonomic sequences.
