This article reports changes to virus taxonomy and taxon nomenclature that were approved ratified by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) in April 2023. The entire ICTV membership was invited vote 174 taxonomic proposals had been Executive July 2022, as well a proposed revision Statutes. All revised Statutes majority voting membership. Of note, continued process renaming existing species accordance with recently mandated binomial format included gene transfer agents (GTAs) classification framework classifying them viriforms.
