ABSTRACT
Abstract Behavioral and functional studies describe hemispheric asymmetry in anxiety metabolic behaviors responses to stress. However, no study has reported serotonergic receptor (the 5-HT 1A receptor) lateralization the basolateral amygdala (BLA) vivo on under In present study, effect of unilateral bilateral suppression BLA anxiety, chronic restraint stress was assessed. Male Wistar rats 7 days after cannulation into received for 14 consecutive days. 20 minutes before induction stress, WAY-100–635 (selective antagonist) or sterile saline (vehicle) administered either uni- bi-laterally BLA. (elevated plus maze; EPM, open field test), parameter were performed. Results showed that causes a significant increase weight gain compared control. non-stress condition, left bilaterally, condition right, left, both sides, inhibition reduced gain. only led decreased food intake control group. conditions, increased water Inhibition side by induced anxiety-like stressed rats. Similarly, effectively caused EPM tests animals. conclusion, it seems receptors are more responsible changes
