ABSTRACT
Abstract Premonitory urges are uncomfortable physical sensations preceding tics that occur in most individuals with a chronic tic disorder. The Urge for Tics Scale (PUTS) is the frequently used self-report measure to assess severity of premonitory urges. We aimed evaluate psychometric properties PUTS largest sample size date ( n = 656), children aged 3–16 years, from baseline measurement longitudinal European Multicenter Children Study (EMTICS). Our evaluation was done three age-groups: 3–7 years 103), between 8 and 10 253), 11–16 300). exhibited good internal reliability adolescents, also under age 10, which younger than previously thought. observed significant but small correlations obsessive–compulsive symptoms, ratings attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder internalizing externalizing behaviors, however, only 8–10 years. Consistent previous results, 10th item correlated less rest scale compared other items and, therefore, should not be as part questionnaire. found two-factor structure 11 older, distinguishing sensory phenomena related tics, mental often age-related differences this study may indicate need development an age-specific questionnaire
