ABSTRACT
Limited visibility from a mobile machine cab can decrease task performance and lead to accidents. Therefore, it is important consider issues already in the design phase. This paper describes use of virtual prototyping evaluation see-through features work machines. The goal evaluate whether two different boom transparency levels have an effect on performance. In addition, alternative placements overlaid information operators' field view are assessed. A within-subject was used this study. Based results, there no significant difference between levels. However, test participants preferred level 70–80% (where 0% completely opaque). Similar results were found with placement information, which had Both placements, windscreen tunnel wall, equally favoured by participants. findings study contribute for demonstrates novel human–machine systems.
