COVID-19 with rheumatic diseases: a report of 5 cases

ABSTRACT
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the result of an infection with new virus, SARS-CoV-2, is rapidly spreading worldwide. It largely unknown whether occurrence COVID-19 in patients rheumatic immune diseases has some specific manifestations, or makes them more prone to progress into severe COVID-19. In this case report, we describe clinical features 5 concomitant presence Amongst these patients, 4 had rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and 1 systemic sclerosis (SSc). Two a history close contact patient. age ranged between 51 79 years. Fever (80%), cough dyspnea (40%), fatigue (20%) were most common presenting symptoms. Laboratory investigations revealed leukopenia lymphopenia 2 patients. all chest computerized tomography (CT) patchy ground glass opacities lungs. During hospital stay, condition two remained same (i.e., mild COVID-19), progressed COVID-19, one patient worsened critically ill These treated antiviral agents for antibiotics secondary bacterial infections, immunomodulatory diseases. All responded well, cured subsequently discharged.
