ABSTRACT
Our objective was to assess the incidence of bacteraemic Aerococcus urinae cases at Helsinki metropolitan area, Finland, from a 6-year study period (2013 2018) and further characterize available cases. The evaluates outcome commonly used cefuroxime treatment determinate set A. in vitro antimicrobial susceptibilities for benzylpenicillin, cefuroxime, ceftriaxone. Clinical records patients were reviewed retrospectively. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing performed by disk diffusion, gradient test, broth microdilution 139-141 clinical isolates. data 72/77 combined with susceptibilities. We found an increasing number within (p = 0.01). mainly elderly males, all suffered underlying conditions. A total 27.3% (21/77) showed polymicrobial blood cultures. Thirty-day mortality 22.1%. Cefuroxime initial empiric agent given 66/76 favorable 20/22 who received least up day 5. All isolates susceptible benzylpenicillin interpreted EUCAST breakpoints Aerococci PK-PD breakpoints, respectively. MIC determinations gave variable results ceftriaxone, 2.1-2.9% resistant. To conclude, it seems that is reflecting growing culture sampling. vitro. Treatment indicate empirical started possibly urinary tract -derived community-acquired bacteraemia covers urinae.
