ABSTRACT
Human epidermal growth factor (HER) 2 positivity and its association with clinicopathological factors remain unclear in Japanese gastric cancer (GC) patients. We performed a prospective, multicenter, observational cohort study to evaluate HER2 protein expression gene amplification metastatic recurrent GC patients, explored correlations features.HER2 were centrally assessed formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue by immunohistochemistry (IHC) fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH). Patient information was collected, associations between (IHC score 3+ and/or FISH positive) low 0/FISH positive or IHC 1+/FISH examined. From September 2011 June 2012, 1461 patients registered across 157 sites, the status of 1427 evaluated. The rate 21.2 %, whereas high 2+/FISH 3+) 15.6 % that 7.0 %. Multiple logistic regression analysis identified intestinal type, absence peritoneal metastasis, hepatic metastasis as significant independent related positivity. type confirmed be subtype predominantly associated lower expression. Sampling conditions including number biopsy samples, formalin concentration, formalin-fixation time did not significantly affect positivity.HER2 comparable other populations examined. Intestinal an
