ABSTRACT
Abstract To better guide Cedrus libani provenances movement to northerly and higher-altitude sites for afforestation, the limits of hardiness cold should be known. In this study, we quantified seven C. sampled from a provenance trial in Ankara, Türkiye, site located outside natural range distribution species. Visual damage observation chlorophyll fluorometry screening methods were used assess variation (LT50, temperature estimated at which 50% needle tissue is damaged) among populations. Overall, can tolerate winter temperatures down − 21.5 °C. Even though there significant differences populations, maximum difference was only 1.9 °C between most least cold-resistant provenances. Cold tolerance generally greater that experienced colder March lower levels total precipitation their native ranges. We also conclude method provides more efficient stable comparison than visual . The results study may useful assisted migration breeding programs, as well developing guidelines genetic materials transfer, increase productivity or adaptability
