ABSTRACT
Abstract Timely and systematic collection of landslide information after a triggering event is pivotal for the definition trends in response to climate change. On September 15, 2022, large part central Italy, particularly Marche Umbria regions, was struck by an anomalous rainfall that showed characteristics persistent convective system. An extraordinary cumulated 419 mm recorded rain gauge area only 9 h. The triggered 1687 landslides affected peak intensity caused widespread flash floods lower parts catchments. In this work, we describe identified during field survey started immediately event. Most mass movements are shallow, many rapid (i.e., debris flows, earth flows) widely affecting road network. Landslide spans from few tens square meters 10 5 m 2 , with median value 87 . Field evidence revealed diffuse residual risk conditions, being proportion located immediate vicinity infrastructures. Besides reporting spatial distribution extreme event, data collected on can be used make comparisons past, validation susceptibility models, general interaction between structures/infrastructures.
