ABSTRACT
Abstract Depressive symptoms are common in mild cognitive impairment (MCI), dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease (AD dementia) and cognitively unimpaired older adults. However, it is unclear whether they could contribute to the identification of ageing. To assess potential utility depressive distinguish between healthy ageing MCI AD dementia. The diagnostic workup function 1737 individuals, 334 people with 142 individuals relied on a comprehensive neuropsychiatric assessment, including Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). were tapped 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Proportional odds logistic regression (POLR) models machine learning technique Adaptive Boosting algorithm (AdaBoost) employed. Stratified repeated random subsampling (stratified bootstrap resampling) was used recursive partitioning training- validation set (70/30 ratio). average accuracy POLR for GDS total score distinguishing exceeded 78% inferior that MMSE. Of note, sensitivity very low. By employing AdaBoost considering items separately, higher than 0.72 comparable MMSE, while sensitivity- specificity values more balanced. findings study provide initial evidence may
