ABSTRACT
Abstract The European Water Framework Directive implements the policies to achieve a good ecological status of all waterbodies. To determine potential in freshwater environments, abiotic (morphology, physical and chemical variables) biotics (algae, fishes, etc.) metrics are used. Despite their importance trophic web, zooplankton was not included as one Biological Quality Elements (BQE) water quality. In present research, we studied species that can be considered indicators for more than 60 reservoirs. data were obtained from 300 samples collected during 10 years reservoirs at Ebro River watershed, which is largest basin Spain. According physicochemical biological elements, these established. More 150 identified study. results this research indicate related with low quality are: Acanthocyclops americanus , Ceriodaphnia spp., Daphnia cucullata párvula Diaphanosoma brachyurum Brachionus angularis Keratella cochlearis Phompolyx sulcata . An indicator moderate Bosmina longirostris while longispina Ascomorpha ovalis saltans suggest used valuable tool should considered, near future, BQE within WFD metrics.
