Neurofeedback Training for Opiate Addiction: Improvement of Mental Health and Craving

ABSTRACT
Psychological improvements in patients with substance use disorders have been reported after neurofeedback treatment. However, has not commonly accepted as a treatment for dependence. This study was carried out to examine the effectiveness of this therapeutic method opiate dependence disorder. The specific aim investigate whether leads any changes mental health and craving. In experimental pre-post test design, 20 dependent undergoing Methadone or Buprenorphine maintenance were examined matched randomized into two groups. While both control groups received their usual treatment, group 30 sessions addition. consisted sensory motor rhythm training on Cz, followed by an alpha-theta protocol Pz. Data from general questionnaire heroin craving collected before Multivariate analysis covariance showed that achieved improvement somatic symptoms, depression, total score health; anticipation positive outcome, desire opioid, relief withdrawal comparison group. supports disorder, supplement pharmacotherapy.
