ABSTRACT
Abstract This article draws upon institutional theory to investigate whether and what extent informal institutions (masculinity, power distance, individualism, indulgence) affect the relationship between formal (the public expenditure on childcare length of parental leave) likelihood that women will become entrepreneurs. The main findings show societies characterized by high masculinity and/or low individualism amplify Instead, high-indulgent weaken negative leave We provide a nuanced picture women’s entrepreneurship considering neglected role institutions.
