Synthesis and Antioxidant Activity of 2-Thioxo-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydropyrimidine-5-Carbamides

A series of 2-thioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbamides were synthesized by a three-component condensation of acetoacetamides, aromatic aldehydes, and thiourea. Their structures were confirmed by IR and PMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Compounds exhibiting high inhibitory activity against superoxide generation by mitochondria in the liver and in transformed tissue of tumor-bearing rats were discovered.
