ABSTRACT
The neuroimaging research community-which includes a broad range of scientific, medical, statistical, and engineering disciplines-has developed many tools to advance our knowledge brain structure, function, development, aging, disease. Past efforts have clearly shaped clinical practice. However, translation new methodologies into practice is challenging. Anything that can reduce these barriers has the potential improve rate at which outcomes contribute In this article, we introduce Karawun, file format conversion tool, become key part work in translating advances diffusion imaging acquisition analysis neurosurgical institution.Karawun links workflows created using open-source software, Brainlab (Brainlab AG, Munich, Germany), commercially available surgical planning navigation suite. Karawun achieves DICOM standards supporting representation 3D structures, including tractography streamlines, thus offers far more than traditional screenshot or color overlay approaches. We show data, from multimodal data methods implemented be imported Brainlab. datasets manipulated as if they were by Brainlab, visualizations white matter tracts other objects.Clinicians explore interact with results pipelines familiar within their standard workflow, understand impact on provide feedback developers.
