ABSTRACT
Background Hand injuries affect a person's ability to engage successfully in activities of daily living (ADLs). Video motion capture (VMC) facilitates measurement dynamic movement. No study date has used VMC as means quantifying the simultaneous movement patterns all joints digits hand during active purposeful Method The purpose this was analyze five completion lateral and pulp pinches. data were collected from four participants two Joint angles plotted facilitate identification patterns. Results Range recorded with VMC, excluding flexion thumb carpometacarpal both pinches, coincided normative goniometric data. Three phases observed: initiation, preshaping, pinch phases. Patterns identified for Conclusion is feasible valid method objectively multiple simultaneously. results provide new insight dynamics well basis subsequent evaluations performed ADLs instrumental ADLs.
