ABSTRACT
This paper focuses on the innovation performance of the knowledge-intensive business service (KIBS) industries in Europe. The analysis is based on firm-level data from the Fourth Community Innovation Survey by Eurostat. It explores a set of innovation-related variables, which accounts for 9,732 KIBS organisations within the 27 Member States. Results highlight the relatively high innovative profile of KIBS as well as their cooperative nature towards external partners in undertaking their innovation processes, with important implications in terms of knowledge management and innovation policy-making.
