ABSTRACT
Vitamin D deficiency is common in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia, particular. While several international recommendations on management of vitamin have been documented practiced globally, these should be adapted to conditions Eastern region. To address this challenge, Prince Mutaib Chair for Biomarkers Osteoporosis (PMCO) King Saud University (KSU), Riyadh, KSA, together with local experts cooperation European Society Clinical Economic Aspects Osteoarthritis (ESCEO), organized a panel that formulated unified diagnosis treatment The selection commenced during 2nd International Symposium conducted last January 20-–21, 2016. Despite overwhelming prevalence deficiency, universal screening not recommended. Recommendations population, children, pregnant/lactating women, post-menopausal elderly, those subsequent metabolic diseases provided. supplementation/correction advised all persons whose falls below 50 nmol/l (20 ng/ml), achieving target 75 (30 particularly suited frail, osteoporotic, older patients.
