ABSTRACT
Available clinical data on the influence of baseline HbA1c postoperative morbidity and readmission after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is scarce. This prompted us to conduct a multicenter retrospective study evaluating chronic hyperglycemia course among patients undergoing (SG). We aimed investigate levels outcomes in SG. conducted cohort consecutive who underwent SG from March 2017 2018 seven referral centers for bariatric surgery. Exclusion criteria were revision surgeries, different interventions, combined with other procedures, lack necessary data. Patients divided into three groups depending their preoperative glycated hemoglobin level (HbA1c) < 5.7%, 5.7–6.4%, ≥ 6.5%. Primary endpoints early late morbidity, impact prolonged length hospital stay (LOS), rate. The 5.7% group comprised 842 (49%) patients, 5.7–6.4% 587 (34%), 6.5% 289 (17%). Overall was 6.23%; this did not differ (p = 0.571). Three died postoperatively. Late comparable 0.312). ratio LOS 0.363 ROC analysis revealed that > 7.3% increased OR 0.007). Preoperative does affect have an chance readmission.
