ABSTRACT
Abstract Conspectus: Redox reactions of Fe- and Mn-oxides play important roles in the fate transformation many contaminants natural environments. Due to experimental analytical challenges associated with complex environments, there has been a limited understanding reaction kinetics mechanisms actual environmental systems, most studies so far have only focused on simple model systems. To bridge gap between systems it is necessary increase complexity examine both involved interaction how interactions affected contaminant transformation. In this Account, we primarily (1) oxidative reactivity Mn- Fe-oxides (2) reductive Fe(II)/iron oxides toward degradation. The effects common metal ions such as Mn 2+ , Ca Ni Cr 3+ Cu ligands small anionic organic matter (NOM), second Al, Si Ti redox are briefly summarized.
