ABSTRACT
Distraction osteogenesis is an effective method for lengthening, deformity correction, and treatment of nonunions bone defects. The classic uses external fixator both distraction consolidation leading to lengthy times in frames there a risk refracture after frame removal. We suggest new technique: lengthening then nailing (LATN) technique which the used gradual reamed intramedullary nail inserted support during phase, allowing early removal fixator. performed retrospective case-matched comparison patients lengthened with LATN (39 limbs 27 patients) versus (34 patients). group wore less time than (12 29 weeks). had lower fixation index (0.5 1.9) healing (0.8 group. confers advantages over including shorter needed fixation, quicker healing, protection against refracture. There are also internal techniques.Level III, therapeutic study. See Guidelines Authors complete description levels evidence.
