ABSTRACT
Geriatric patients experience more adverse events owing to early complications after TKA or THA related preexisting comorbidities. However, associations between patient and surgery variables, including age, BMI, comorbidities with are unclear. Knowing these relationships is necessary for developing risk stratification, defining contraindications, predicting outcomes. We wished establish quantify the among comorbidities, type of anesthesia outcomes longer length stay, disposition an extended care facility, readmission, reoperation in geriatric undergoing THA.We prospectively followed a cohort older than 65 years THA. Demographics, complications, discharge disposition, and/or information within 90-day postoperative period were collected. Adjusted hierarchical stepwise multivariable regression models used analyze relative risks rates.Patients approximately 40% likely have any complication per each subsequent 10 age. Patients who underwent bilateral TKAs 65% complication. had epidural 2.6 times major systemic coronary artery disease transfusion, local joint infection complication, require TKA.Age, surgery, anesthesia, other mainly chronic heart failure, associated outcomes. We believe factors should be counsel make preoperative surgical decisions.
