ABSTRACT
Abstract Supplementation with selenium is common for dairy cows, but the importance of source not clear. This study aimed to compare nano-selenium (Nano-Se) and sodium selenite supplements cows on lactation performance, milk Se levels selenoprotein (Sel) gene expression. Twelve multiparous Holstein were randomly divided into two groups: a control group fed basal diet plus 0.30 mg Se/kg DM as or Nano-Se 30 days. Dry matter intake, yield composition affected by dietary ( P > 0.05); however, total glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities higher supplementation than < 0.05). At end experiment, significantly increased plasma GSH-Px activity, compared supplement. The mRNA expression 1, 2 4; thioredoxin reductase 3; selenoproteins W, T, K F markedly upregulated 0.05) in mammary gland group. Thus, plays an important role antioxidant status particular Sel glands both being stimulated nano sources.
