ABSTRACT
Notch signaling plays a pivotal role in regulating various developmental processes, particularly controlling the timing of neuronal production within developing neocortex. Central to this regulatory mechanism is oscillatory pattern Delta, which functions as clock modulator. Its deficiency profoundly impairs mammalian brain formation, highlighting its fundamental development. However, zebrafish carrying mutation functional ortholog DeltaC (dlc) their exhibit an intact forebrain structure, implying evolutionary variations forebrain. In study, we unveil distinct yet analogous expression profiles Delta and Her genes vertebrate Specifically, for first time, detected gene dlc Although appeared irregular was not pervasive among progenitor population, attenuation dlc-involved pathway using γ-secretase inhibitor impaired differentiation forebrain, revealing indispensable early neurogenesis. Taken together, our results demonstrate foundational prototype forebrains, upon intricate patterns neocortex may have been sculpted.
