Birth-related PTSD symptoms and related factors following preterm childbirth in Turkey

ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective : To examine factors associated with birth-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among women who had preterm birth in their last pregnancy Turkey. Methods 304 were asked to report sociodemographic factors, perinatal birth/premature infant characteristics, and social support PTSD symptoms. Data collected using online surveys between November 2020 February 2021. Hierarchical multiple linear regression was used. Results The prevalence of symptoms following 71.1 % . Older age, the woman being positively affected by her own mother’s experience, not having traumatic experience postnatal period, lower level after events experienced during birth, feeling that life/physical integrity at risk amniotomy, psychologically well childbirth, negatively witnessing other parents’ happy moments babies friend/family groups, absence illness reporting higher positive interactions healthcare team decreased likelihood PTSD. Except for age event all variables explained 43 variance a small effect size ( f 2 = 0.04). Stress labor strongest predictor β 0.33). Conclusion Wellbeing mother baby, facilitating interventions labor, communication study findings highlighted on mothers infants
