ABSTRACT
Adherence to e-health obesity interventions is a significant challenge.We examined the individual and household predictors of adolescents' adherence Web-based lifestyle intervention.One hundred sixty overweight/obese adolescents one their parents enrolled in 8-month intervention. Structural equation modeling was used examine factors from theory planned behavior self-determination (food/soda availability, parenting, environment) that predict components intervention.We explained 10.8 36.9% total variance Intrinsic motivation parenting practices styles directly predicted adherence. Relatedness autonomy support indirectly via intrinsic motivation. Finally, income modulated these effects.Taking self-regulatory perspective (i.e., accounting for motivation) contributes our understanding intervention adherence, but environment may play greater role facilitating adolescent change.
