ABSTRACT
Chronic hypoparathyroidism managed with conventional treatment, comprising oral administration of calcium and active vitamin D, has been associated renal complications, including nephrolithiasis nephrocalcinosis. Further larger-scale studies are needed to examine these risks. This study evaluated the risk nephrocalcinosis in patients chronic hypoparathyroidism. A retrospective cohort using a care claims database United States from January 2007 June 2017. Included were those (excluding receiving parathyroid hormone) randomly selected without over maximum 5-year follow-up. The main outcome measures nephrolithiasis, identified by diagnosis codes or procedure for removing kidney stones, nephrocalcinosis, codes. analyses included 8097 adult 40,485 After excluding at baseline, 8051 40,466 During 5 years follow-up, had significantly increased Kaplan–Meier analysis compared (both P < 0.001).
