Anatomical classification of accessory foramina in human mandibles of adults, infants, and fetuses

ABSTRACT
In the past few decades, a number of studies have reported that accessory foramina are located on internal aspect mandible, indicating their potential importance for effective and successful clinical procedures. The aim this study is to evaluate adult, infantile, fetal human mandibles occurrence foramina. To our knowledge, first time an attempt has been made examine particular co-location using systematic approach perspective. A total 397 mandibles, including 299 18 80 fetal, were investigated macroscopically frequency, position, diameter 96 % adult at least one foramen was found. Foramina either superior or inferior genial tubercle, as well lateral tubercle. Bearing in mind usual location, four different types coexistence distinguished. Accessory also present similar locations infantile mandibles. mandibular constant structures mandible. Their size, location vary depending type foramen. Observations children showed no significant differences evaluation foramina, with exception lower group subjects.
