ABSTRACT
Social isolation is a pervasive and debilitating condition that has adverse prognostic impacts. This often co-occurs with other geriatric syndromes, further exacerbating negative health outcomes. Given these considerations, the present study aims to elucidate roles of social in older adults anorexia aging and/or sarcopenia respect long-term mortality using nationally representative cohort study. Data were obtained from Taiwan Longitudinal Study on Aging (TLSA), sample size 3,762 participants aged 50 years older. 1999 (wave 4) 2015 9) analyzed. The TLSA questionnaire was used define isolation, anorexia, sarcopenia. Logistic regressions employed explore associations between Cox proportional hazard model utilized examine synergistic effects or 16-year all-cause mortality. After controlling for demographic information comorbidities, significantly associated (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.46 [95% confidence interval: 1.00–2.12, p=0.0475]) (aOR 1.35 CI: 1.12–1.64, p=0.0021]). Furthermore, 1.65 1.25–2.18, p=0.0004]) 1.42–1.92, p<0.0001]) both higher risks mortality, while alone revealed borderline statistical significance. Our findings indicate closely linked among middle-aged adults. Additionally, exacerbates risk However, appears have this cohort. These underscore importance addressing optimize their outcomes mitigate risk.
