ABSTRACT
Abstract So far approximately 144,000 species of fungi have been named but sequences the majority them do not exist in public databases. Therefore, quality and coverage barcode databases is a bottleneck that hinders study fungi. Cortinarius largest genus Agaricales with thousands world-wide. The most diverse subgenus Telamonia its considered one taxonomically challenging Agaricales. Its high diversity combined convergent, similar appearing taxa earned it reputation being an impossible group to study. In this total 746 specimens, including 482 type specimens representing 184 were sequenced. Also, significant number old types successfully sequenced, 105 over 50 years 18 100 old. Altogether, 20 epi- or neotypes are proposed for recently commonly used older names. Our doubles reliable DNA-barcodes C . sequence This also first extensive phylogenetic subgenus. A sections shown context time. shows nomenclatural problems, even difficult groups like Telamonia, can be solved consequently identification based on ITS barcodes becomes easy task non-experts genus.
