ABSTRACT
Despite recent improvements in the diagnosis and treatment, final outcomes patients with nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPC) still remain suboptimal. Through data mining from published transcriptomic database further bioinformatic validation, fibronectin (FN1) was identified as a differentially upregulated gene NPC tissues, which implicates transition epithelial to mesenchymal phenotype (EMT) promotes metastasis. Given roles of risk stratification frontline therapeutics common carcinomas, such renal cell cancer, we explored immunoexpression status its associations clinicopathological variables survival well-defined cohort patients. Fibronectin immunohistochemistry retrospectively performed analyzed using H-score for 124 biopsy specimens who received standard treatment without distant metastasis at initial diagnosis. Those cases higher than median value were regarded overexpression. The findings correlated variables, EBV latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) expression, disease-specific (DSS), metastasis-free (DMFS), local recurrence-free (LRFS). overexpression significantly associated American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) stages III-IV (p = 0.019) LMP1 expression 0.004), univariately predictive adverse DSS, DMFS, LRFS (all p < 0.0001).
