ABSTRACT
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the dominant type of esophageal cancer in East Asian population. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been studied to play important roles tumorigenesis. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) miRNA lead aberrant expression and structural alteration are hypothesized be involved tumorigenesis development. We conducted a population-based case-control study evaluate association between SNPs miRNAs ESCC risk 1400 cases 2185 matched controls. Four including miR-196a2 rs11614913, miR-146a rs2910164, miR-499 rs3746444, miR-423 rs6505162 were selected with comprehensive collection strategy genotyped using SNaPshot Multiplex System. Odds ratio (OR) 95 % confidence interval (95 CI) used assess strength association. The CC genotype rs11614913 was significantly associated an increased compared TT (OR 1.11, CI 1.01–1.22, P 0.049) TT/TC genotypes 1.09, 1.01–1.19, 0.043). more pronounced non-drinkers recessive model 1.13, 1.01–1.27, 0.029). A rs3746444 polymorphism evident among patients who never smoking drinking. This suggests that Chinese
