ABSTRACT
Essential oils have been proposed as promising non-toxic transdermal permeation enhancers. Their use is limited because of their low water solubility. The nanotechnology-based strategies one the ways to overcome this limitation. This study aimed explore enhancing capability cumin essential oil in nanoemulgel systems containing diclofenac sodium. Cumin nanoemulsion was produced by high-pressure homogenization technique. formulation optimized changing HLB values a range 9.65-16.7 using different surfactant mixtures, namely, Tween 20, 80, and Span 80. Preparations were characterized polydispersity index, droplet size, zeta potential. Nanoemulsion with concentrations 2 4% incorporated into 0.75% Carbopol gel matrix make formulation, its effect performed through Franz diffusion cells. Antinociceptive activities formulations measured thermal (tail-flick) chemical (formalin) models nociception mice. Characterization exhibited that at value 9.65, smallest particle size (82.20 ± 5.82 nm) formed. By increasing percentage from 1 2%, increased 28.39 1.23 34.75 1.07 µg/cm2 24 h. simple (21.18 2.51 µg/cm2) marketed product (22.97 1.92 lower than oil. Nanoemulgel showed stronger antinociceptive effects formalin tail-flick tests formulation. In conclusion, proved could be considered skin enhancer enhance therapeutic drugs.
