Capability of Fengyun-3D Satellite in Earth System Observation

ABSTRACT
From the viewpoint of earth system science, this paper discusses observation capability second-generation Chinese polar-orbiting, sun-synchronous operational meteorological satellite systems, Fengyun-3 (FY-3), based on function and performance test results from FY-3D in orbit. The FY-3 series satellites have numerous remote sensing instruments a wide range imaging sounding electromagnetic spectrometers onboard. These can obtain reflectivity data for land surface, soil, vegetation, water body, snow cover, ocean color, sea ice earth's surface over spectral range, as well information absorption scattering radiative transfer molecules particles (clouds aerosols) atmosphere. All these be used to retrieve physical chemical about land, ocean, atmosphere system. Comprehensive by is preliminarily realized.
