ABSTRACT
Atmospheric water vapor is an essential climate variable (ECV) with extensive spatial and temporal variations. Microwave humidity observations from meteorological satellites provide important information for system variables, including atmospheric precipitable water, assimilation in numerical weather prediction (NWP) reanalysis. As one of the payloads onboard China's second-generation polar-orbiting operational Fengyun-3 (FY-3) satellites, Humidity Sounder (MWHS) has been continuously observing global since 2008. The reprocessing historical FY-3 MWHS data documented detail this study. After calibrating correcting data, quality reprocessed dataset evaluated improvement shown results suggest that bias reduced to approximately 0.8 K, compared METOP-A (MHS). variability highly correlated instrument temperature. reprocessing, scene temperature dependency mitigated all 183 GHz channels, consistency stability between FY-3A/B/C are also improved.
