ABSTRACT
The gold standard for evaluating cognitive impairments in HIV-infected patients is to administer an extensive neuropsychological assessment. This may, however, be time-consuming and hence not always feasible the clinic. Therefore, several brief screening tools have been developed. study determined validity of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) HIV Dementia Scale (HDS) detecting impairment using both Frascati impairment, no dementia (CIND) criteria classify HIV-1 infected patients. MoCA, HDS, assessment, covering nine domains, were administered a group 102 who all on cART virologically suppressed at least 1 year. Results show that areas under curve (AUCs) MoCA HDS statistically significant, CIND as standard. However, AUCs did differ significantly, regardless used classification (Frascati: z = 0.37, p 0.35; CIND: -0.62, 0.27). Sensitivity low recommended cutoff scores (<26) 0.56, (<11) 0.26; 0.55, 0.36). Cutoff with good sensitivity adequate specificity could instruments. are sole instruments diagnose HIV-associated impairment.
