Dengue Awareness in Latin American Populations: A Questionnaire Study

ABSTRACT
Dengue is an escalating public health concern in Latin American Countries with a dramatic increase of cases reported during the past decade. The objectives this study were to identify and provide insights into current management attitudes toward dengue understand vaccination behaviors prevent Mexico Colombia.This was community-based, cross-sectional, descriptive conducted urban rural areas endemic non-endemic regions. interviews face-to-face using structured questionnaire containing 58 questions. A quota sampling approach used obtain nationally representative sample adult population. All data weighted correct for differences between samples surveyed each country relative their general population.A total 1978 participants completed survey. Two percent 10% Colombia, respectively, had experienced fever, just under one-third adults almost two-thirds children hospitalized as result illness. Awareness similar Colombia (76%) (68%), awareness higher regions than proportion (84%) who considered be common disease country, compared (56%). In 55% 54% areas, 28% 46% believed that everyone at risk contracting dengue. both countries, most action undertaken by infection removal standing water. At least 70% believe government could do more country.Dengue identified severe Colombia. Most recognized need reduce Mexico.
