ABSTRACT
Characteristics of the haptics and optic-haptic junction (OHJ) an intraocular lens (IOL) affect IOL position in capsular bag, positional stability, development posterior capsule opacification. Therefore, OHJ have a role determining initial long-term visual outcomes after cataract surgery. Understanding differences available IOLs relationships between each bag across range sizes might inform selection model for individuals. To evaluate geometry five currently marketed, commonly used one-piece hydrophobic acrylic monofocal changes haptic-capsular according to size using compression well diameters.AcrySof SN60WF, CT LUCIA 621PY, enVista MX60, TECNIS ZCB00, Vivinex XY1 were scanned with computed tomography (CT) dry, uncompressed state quantitative analyses haptic dimensions qualitative assessment geometry. scanning was done placement into series wells (11.5, 11.0, 10.0, 9.0 mm) angle contact (AoC) (CBC). axial alignment assessed on side-view 3-dimensional top-view images, respectively. The evaluations highlighted IOLs. All (length, thickness, surface area, volume) all (surface area greatest 621PY IOL. Compared that had smallest measurement parameter, value 31-91% larger. The largest volume showed values 500% 240% greater than corresponding volume. AoC CBC decreased increasing percentage change comparing from mm 11.5 wells. The vitro this study highlight geometric characteristics studied. collected evidence refutes opinions are same supports idea individual can relative advantages disadvantages depend case. We believe knowledge is necessary surgeon opportunity select best "customized" option case as result anatomical conditions secondary diagnoses. Our bench shows how big lenses.
