ABSTRACT
Abstract The Yb:Lu 2 O 3 precursor made up of spherical particles was synthesized through the co-precipitation method in water/ethanol solvent. 5 at% powder is cubic phase after calcination at 1100 °C for 4 h. also consists nanoparticles with average particle and grain sizes 96 49 nm, respectively. size pre-sintered ceramic sample 526 nm that by hot isostatic pressing grows to 612 nm. 1.0 mm-thick has an in-line transmittance 81.6% (theoretical value 82.2%) largest absorption cross-section 976 0.96×10 −20 cm emission 1033 0.92×10 gain cross sections are calculated smallest population inversion parameter β 0.059. highest slope efficiency 68.7% optical 65.1% obtained 1033.3 quasi-continuous wave (QCW) pumping. In case continuous (CW) pumping, 61.0% 54.1%. laser performance indicates ceramics have excellent resistance thermal load stresses, which shows great potential high-power solid-state applications.
