ABSTRACT
Abstract Direct utilization of hydrocarbon fuels in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) has drawn special attention for high energy conversion efficiency, low cost, and simple devices. However, when fueled with hydrocarbons, SOFCs encountered great difficulty both performance stability, which should be attributed to the sluggish oxidizing reactions, severe carbon deposition possible sulfur poisoning reactions anode. This review summarizes potential anode hydrocarbon-fueled discusses deactivation mechanisms. Further, various strategies improve stability are reviewed, including substituting alloys or increasing basicity nickel-based anodes, adopting adding catalyst layers. The advantages challenges each strategy discussed. Special is paid on properties models novel nano-metal catalysts in-situ exsolved. publications concerning SOFC mainly recent 5 years, listed compared this article.
