ABSTRACT
Abstract Increasing railway traffic and energy utilization issues prompt electrified systems to be more economical, efficient sustainable. As regenerative braking in has huge potential for optimized utilization, a lot of research been focusing on how use the efficiently gain sustainable benefits. The storage system is an alternative because it not only deals with but also smooths drastic fluctuation load power profile optimizes management. In this work, we propose co-phase traction supply super capacitor (CSS_SC) purpose realizing function management quality railways. Besides, coordinated control strategy presented match four working modes, including traction, braking, peak shaving valley filling. A corresponding simulation model built MATLAB/Simulink verify feasibility proposed under dynamic conditions. results demonstrate that CSS_SC flexible deal different conditions can realize saving within allowable voltage unbalance 0.008% contrast 1.3% standard limit. With such strategy, performance controlled comply efficiency safety constraints. Finally, case study demonstrates improvement valley-to-peak ratio reduced by 20.3% daily factor increased 17.9%.
