The status of rural children left-behind in China: 2010–2020

ABSTRACT
Abstract This paper uses the 2010 and 2020 Population Census micro-data to analyze relevant characteristics trends over decade. The analysis includes following aspects: population size of rural children left-behind, their age structure sex composition, regional distribution, living arrangements, educational development. findings show that left-behind remained large, likelihood being was closely related age, with no significant difference by sex. An increasing proportion were cared for grandparents as more mothers migrated between 2020. Rural longer had an advantage in opportunities compared average children. Over-age attendance prevalent among than all Continuous attention should be paid issue efforts made address its root causes.
