ABSTRACT
A carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) was irradiated with a high energy electron-beam. As result, the tensile strength of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)-based CFRTPs significantly improved by gradually increasing electron-beam dose. It confirmed that adhesion between CF and HDPE surface properties were readily modified verified from spectroscopic analysis various oxygen-containing functional groups formed on irradiation we believe strong attractive interactions took place among these at interface CFs HDPE. Finally, it conclusive provided two main effects CFRTPs. One cross-linking resin for efficient load transfer to other formation group interaction matrix. These showed synergetic contribution enhance mechanical CFRTP.
