ABSTRACT
Abstract Depression is a very common mental health illness characterized by cluster of signs and symptoms ranging from mood disturbances sleep or appetite disorders to physical manifestations the body. The purpose present study was estimate prevalence depression its related factors among Afghan women. A cross-sectional conducted women between July 14, 2021, August 15, in Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif Samangan provinces (Afghanistan). total 664 participated (mean age = 28.85 years; SD ± 11.57). In order assess participants, 19-item validated Dari version Center for Epidemiological Studies–Depression Scale used. Approximately four-fifths sample had (79.1%). Participants with were significantly more likely (i) be aged over 30 years, (ii) live rural areas, (iii) have low-income level, (iv) not an occupation, (v) any disease/illness, (vi) experienced event that mentally affected them past month. Considering high women, there need integrate services Afghanistan. use interventions including regular screening symptoms, educating girls concerning early self-diagnosis are essential.
