ABSTRACT
Abstract Background The shadowing house officer is an experiential learning activity that usually takes place within the final year clinical rotations of medical undergraduates. An exposure to a surgical intern especially useful as work extends more practical aspects ward work. Objective We assessed impact exprience during student rotation on internship and evaluate challenges period. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional survey was carried out among 108 doctors in Sri Lanka via electronic media 2023. Results Our study population consisted interns, with response rate 43.2%. This demonstrates average undergoes 4- day period surgery which considered by majority help smooth transition internship. 56% had clear understanding about outcomes less than half has induction session prior commencement shadowing. Official documentation, routine work, team communication skills were meaningfully experienced main criticisms inadequate breaks leading exhaustion missing important teaching activities.
