ABSTRACT
The peroneus tertius muscle (PT) is one of the extensor muscles lower leg, often described as a variable separation from digitorum longus (EDL). According to literature it has six different types insertion, them (Olewnik Type IV) having two tendons inserting fifth metatarsal bone (FMTB). Morphometric data about this type insertion sparse, especially relation between tendons, albeit PT suspected contribute stress fractures FMTB. Therefore, we examined give detailed information on points and respective relations. We 27 extremities embalmed human bodies (12 paired, 15 single sided; 12 right left) with distinguishable FMTB IV). specimens were obtained an undergrad dissection program, which in turn body donation program. After photo documentation situ, resection measurement morphological properties performed attached bone. Results measurements yielded wide range variation, point anterior tendon but no significant difference sides or sex, except for length posterior sex. distance base varies 0 9 mm, outlier at 24 mm (mean = 3.9 ± 4.8 mm), insertions 4.7 resulting how far reaches varying 17 60 39.6 11.5 mm) 22% 98% 64 19%). Our findings overview features PTT can have, when Especially relationship those are interest, they might support its complex role occurrence by providing amounts torsional be used tendon-grafts.
