ABSTRACT
Accurate estimates of plant transpiration (Tsf) are essential to maximizing the efficient use water. When only considering surface canopy resistance (rc), Penman-Monteith (PM) model is commonly used in Tsf modeling. However, rc difficult measure but it can be accurately estimated using Jarvis (JA). Our objectives were evaluate apple trees calculated with an inverted PM integrated different versions JA for growth stages and compare their accuracy four optimization algorithms, least squares method (LSM), genetic algorithm (GA), quantum particle swarm (QPSO), mind evolutionary (MEA). We explored effect environmental constraint functions parameter three variables, vapor pressure deficit (VPD), net irradiance (Rn), air temperature (Ta), soil water content (θa) on sub-models calculate tree Tsf. In our analysis, we rainfed data from experiments orchard conducted during 2008–2010 at Wuwei City Loess Plateau China. compared 81 segmented (by stage), comprising combination that rc. Moreover, optimized results improve five empirical models, combined model. The showed sub-model JA3322, i.e., third VPD, Rn, second Ta, θa attained best estimate a coefficient determination (R2 = 0.71), Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE 0.65), root mean squared error (RMSE 1257.4 s m-1), global performance indicator (GPI 1.0) whole stage. equivalent values partial stage 0.78, 0.72, 1203.3 m-1 0.99, dense 0.77, 445.6 0.97, respectively. Segmented models based leaf area index threshold significantly improved estimation, where median R2 NSE by 7.1 % 12.4 12.2 13.4 Despite pointing out stages, indicated MEA yielded most accurate rc, followed QPSO, GA, LSM. constraints was Tsf, suitable algorithm. Overall, findings this study provide actual consumption information easily accessible meteorological effective day-to-day management decision-making rain-fed orchards China previously.
