NAPLEX Preparation Program Characteristics and Resources Associated With First-Time Exam Pass Rates

ABSTRACT
Pharmacy colleges and schools invest substantial faculty effort financial resources in North America Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX) preparation, including vendor products purported to improve NAPLEX pass rates. The objective of this project was examine preparation program characteristics associated with first-time rates.A national survey investigated which pharmacy provided a formal the 2021/2022 academic year, what students were required use. school unique programs separately analyzed for association 2022 rates.The response rate 71% (100 schools). Of 6 analyzed, offering private status both weakly correlated decrease rate, while founding year 2000 or earlier an increase rate. In generalized linear model, (-5.90% [-11.55 -0.23]) 3-year accelerated curriculum (-9.15% [-15.55 -2.75]). 12 programs, 3 rate: question bank, review book/materials, live, synchronous faculty-led review. (-6.62% [-11.16 -2.08]). Among without program, rates consistently exceeded average 2020, 2021, 2022, proportion above dropped from 59% 2021 58% 2020 44% 2022.Simply implementing is insufficient overcome other systemic/programmatic influences successfully passing NAPLEX; should address competencies.
