ABSTRACT
Inverted papilloma (IP) of the middle ear is a very rare lesion, as less than 20 cases have been reported in the literature. The authors report the case of a 73-year-old male with IP of the middle and external ear that had already been operated many times. Treatment consisted of creating a large resection cavity. No recurrence was observed on clinical examination or MRI with a follow-up of 2 years. This case is analysed in the light of a review of published cases with a discussion of the pathophysiological and treatment problems raised by these lesions.
